Craft Protest

From the 2nd-4th November 2017, we held an exhibition of contemporary artists who use private craft as public protest. Taking place at The Art Pavilion in Mile End, we took craft, decorative arts & design as a starting point as artists explored how dissident action has been woven into their artistic practices.

Workshops by the fantastic Embellished Talk and Liminal Spaces. The exhibition and workshops were generously supported by Queen Mary’s Centre for Public Engagement. With special thanks to Dr. Sophie Oliver who lent us an archival dress for the exhibition, worn by Jean Rhys. You can hear more about Sophie’s relationship to the dress here.
